Seeking our Cure for Pediatric Brain Cancer

     Team Chickaroo

In 2007 when Caroline was diagnosed, cancer researchers showed little to no interest in Pediatric Low-Grade Astrocytomas, the most common type of pediatric brain cancer.   Equally discouraging, front-line treatments for PLGAs were invasive, archaic, toxic, ineffective, and caused significant, permanent collateral damage to growing children.

As parents, we knew that we needed to do something to change this. Since 2007, Team Chickaroo has since over $800,000 for PLGA research through The Chickaroo Classic Golf Tournament, Team Chickaroo Mom Prom, and the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk.   Combining our efforts with those of other families associated with A Kids' Brain Tumor Cure Foundation, also founded in 2007, has made a significant difference.

The scientific community is beginning to take notice and show interest in studying PLGAs. Incredibly, more progress in understanding and treating this disease has been made in the past 5 years than ever before.   Hope for the discovery of truly effective, targeted therapies is now quite real.

The greatest obstacle to NEW research remains the lack of funding. All proceeds by Team Chickaroo events will fund research through the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and/or  A Kids’ Brain Tumor Cure Foundation.

Join Team Chickaroo today!  We know our cure will happen. Be part of it!
